GENERAL & LAPARASCOPIC (KEY-HOLE) SURGERY
Services provided by the Department of General Surgery are commonly related to the abdominal diseases and the diseases of the organs connected to it. A human abdomen encompasses the stomach, small and large intestines, spleen, liver, rectum, pancreas, bile ducts, and the appendix. Additionally, our surgeons provide surgical services for diseases of the thoracic cavity and the thyroid glands, and hernias. General Surgeons affiliated with our department of General Surgery offer surgical management for certain diseases of the soft tissues, skin and the breasts.
Our surgical team at the National Hospital is supervised by renowned and experienced General Consultants and Surgeons who perform most complex and technically advanced surgical procedures. Our Surgeons are internationally qualified and trained, assisted by the best auxiliary surgical staff to provide comprehensive pre-operational and pro-operational care to the patients admitted in our facility.
Services are offered from the following centres of AVIVO Group:
We have introduced the most conventional and state-of-the-art surgical technique in our Department of General Surgery known as Laparoscopic Surgery, also called keyhole surgery, or band-aid surgery. We have been developing our surgical techniques and equipment with the advancement of technology to offer our patients the most minimally invasive surgical management of their disease.
Our General and Laparoscopic Surgeons perform Laparoscopy via a small, flexible tube knows as an endoscope with built-in camera, light and a magnification mechanism, accompanied by various thin surgical instruments. This equipment are inserted inside the patient’s body through small incisions formed on the area farther away from the target location.
As compared to the traditional, open surgery, laparoscopic surgery holds many benefits. Since laparoscopy operates a disease through tiny incisions, the risk of hemorrhaging and post-operative pain is reduced. Laparoscopy brings equal therapeutic and treatment relief as of the traditional surgical method, with shorter post-operative stay at the hospital, and faster recovery.
Our general surgeons are also responsible to treat burnt patients; hence, they assist or supervise surgeries in our hospital’s emergency departments and trauma centers.
We offer you a wide variety of General and Laparoscopic Surgical procedures that are performed by our extensive panel of skilled, highly qualified, trained and experienced surgeons. Some of these are:
- Laparotomy – a surgical examination of the abdominal cavity via a large incision in the abdomen. Laparotomy is performed as a diagnostic examination or as a pre-surgical preparation.
- Appendectomy – a common surgical treatment of appendicitis (inflammation in the appendix), to remove the appendix.
